On April 18th, Patriot’s Day, Boston, and the World gathered to celebrate and run the infamous Boston Marathon.

Any Medford resident could tell you that the race was in good hands as the Boston Marathon Race Director, Dave McGillivray, is a Medford native. He was even the Medford High School Valedictorian, Class of 1972!

Lemi Berhanu Hayle and Atsede Baysa of Ethiopia won the men’s and women’s titles.

Many of the 2013 Marathon bombing survivors also took part in the race, some for the first time. Under heavy security 21 survivors ran the marathon, many of whom had lost limbs in the attack. For more on their experience, please click HERE.
