First reunion of John Morrill, Fred Pineau and Joe Viglione in 40 years, with Mike Quirk on bass!
In 1974 guitarist Fred Pineau, singer Joe Viglione, drummer John Morrill and bassist John Hovorka were one of ten bands listed in the Boston Phoenix. Years later the Phoenix listed thousands of regional groups. On September 28, 2014 – after 40 years – Fred, Joe and John appeared at the Red Parrot (Mr. Hovorka was out of town and couldn’t make the show) along with veteran Boston area bassist Mike Quirk and after one quick practice earlier in the day, we performed at the Rathskellar Reunion. This was the second year in a row, a different line-up appeared in 2013 (Joe Viglione’s 1980s band.)
Rough, but fun, Bo Diddley’s “Pills” and Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane” have the rock and roll heart, I think. The show starts off with Alice Cooper’s “I’m 18.” This was a quick run through, we’ll be performing in 2015 with more practice and with some new tunes!
Adult Content Warning: Beward of Lou Reed’s “Sister Ray.”
Cadillac Heart is also on the bill and on this video
